Product description
La Lune is a summer gin inspired by The Moon, the Major Arcana card from the Marseille Tarot, symbolizing intuition, cycles, and the ever-changing forces of nature. This card guided the creation of a recipe built around a dialogue between citrus fruits, aromatic herbs, and seaweed.
The foundation is classic juniper berries, enhanced by the zest of Menton lemon and citron. Their vibrant freshness and delicate bitterness bring brightness, tension, and elegance to the spirit. Breton wakame and kombu add a subtle saline, oceanic character that extends the citrus notes and gives the gin remarkable depth.
At the heart of the recipe lies fennel, expressed through both wild fennel seeds and fresh fennel bulb. Its delicate aniseed notes naturally bridge the maritime character of the seaweed with the lively freshness of the citrus. Provençal rosemary completes the composition with a resinous, aromatic touch that gives structure and length to the finish.
The result is a fresh, balanced gin where subtle coastal notes intertwine with the gentle aniseed character of fennel before giving way to the vibrant freshness of citrus.
BEHIND THE LABEL
In the Tarot de Marseille, The Moon card symbolizes intuition, imagination, emotions, and the realm of the unconscious. Associated with the element of water, it evokes dreams, sensitivity, memories, and everything that develops beyond the reach of conscious awareness. It is a card that encourages us to explore subtle perceptions and trust our instincts.
The card typically depicts a radiant moon shining over a landscape framed by two towers, with a dog and a wolf howling in response, while a crayfish emerges from the water below. This imagery represents the dialogue between the conscious and the unconscious, the known and the unknown, as well as the natural cycles that shape life.
When it appears in a tarot reading, The Moon often signals a period of introspection, creativity, or inner transformation. It invites us to listen to our intuition and accept that some answers reveal themselves only with time. Reversed, it may indicate confusion, illusion, or fears that cloud one's judgment.
